Avalanche face Islanders in a non-conference clash. Colorado has a solid home record, while New York aims to boost its away form. Both seek their first season win.
Patrick Roy returns to Denver as the New York Islanders' coach. His No. 33 still hangs high as he recalls his Colorado days and the bittersweet end as coach.
Brock Nelson netted two as the Islanders beat the Avalanche 6-2. Duclair, Palmieri, Lee, and Barzal also scored. Ritchie and Mittelstadt scored for Colorado.
