Carolina hosts Tampa Bay in the season opener. Hurricanes aim to start strong at home; Lightning looks to improve on the road. Both teams report no injuries.
Tampa Bay's game vs. Carolina is postponed due to Hurricane Milton. The Nashville preseason finale is canceled. The season now opens at Carolina Friday, then Vancouver at home Tuesday.
Nikita Kucherov's hat trick led the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-1 win over the Hurricanes. Kucherov scored a power-play goal and 2 empty-netters. Brayden Point also scored.
The Lightning beat the Hurricanes 4-1 in the opener after a week in NC due to Hurricane Milton. Captain Hedman was relieved to win despite worries about home.
