The Vancouver Canucks are a professional ice hockey team located in Vancouver, British Columbia. They participate in the National Hockey League (NHL), belonging to the Pacific Division. Established in 1970, they were part of the NHL's efforts to expand into Western Canada, starting their inaugural season in 1970–71.
Over the years, the Canucks have achieved significant success, including winning the Presidents' Trophy twice, in 1992 and 2011, for having the best regular season record. They have claimed the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl, which goes to the Western Conference playoff champions, on three occasions – 1982, 1994, and 2011. Despite these accomplishments, the pursuit of the Stanley Cup remains unfulfilled.
The team's history is illustrious, with several players making profound impacts. Among these are Trevor Linden, Pavel Bure, Markus Naslund, the Sedin twins (Henrik and Daniel), Alex Burrows, and Roberto Luongo, all of whom have left indelible marks on the franchise.
Home games are hosted at Rogers Arena, a venue shared with the Vancouver Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Since its opening in 1995, the arena has welcomed fans with a seating capacity of 18,910, creating a vibrant atmosphere for hockey in Vancouver.
