The Anaheim Ducks, initially branded as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, stand as a professional ice hockey squad from Anaheim, California. They partake in the National Hockey League's Pacific Division and have celebrated one Stanley Cup victory, which occurred in 2007. Launched in 1993 alongside the Florida Panthers as part of the league's expansion, the Ducks embarked on their inaugural campaign during the 1993-94 season, concluding with a 33-46-13 tally. Their first postseason appearance came in 1997, although it ended with a defeat to the Detroit Red Wings in the opening round. Subsequent playoff qualifications in 1999, 2000, and 2002 all resulted in first-round exits.
In a significant shift, 2003 saw the Ducks transition under the ownership of Henry and Susan Samueli, leading to a rebranding of the team's name to the Anaheim Ducks, accompanied by a new emblem and color palette. The Ducks secured playoff spots in 2003, 2004, and 2006, yet faced first-round eliminations in each of those years. The tide turned in 2007 when the Ducks clinched their first-ever Stanley Cup, overpowering the Ottawa Senators in a five-game final. While the Ducks continued to participate in the playoffs during the years 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, each venture ended in a second-round exit.
