Florida Panthers News & Updates

Spencer Knight, the goaltender for the Florida Panthers, successfully blocked 20 shots to achieve his fourth career shutout in a dominant 6-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Near the end of the second period, Mackie Samoskevich scored with just under a second on the clock, his goal coming after Michigan secured a win over Ohio State in football. In the third period, Florida further extended their lead with four more goals from Aleksander Barkov, Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad, Evan Rodrigues, and Adam Boqvist.

For the Hurricanes, Spencer Martin managed to make 23 saves, but the team has now lost four out of their last six matches.

This win represents three consecutive victories for the Panthers following a previous six-game losing streak. The Panthers have maintained a perfect 5-0-0 record when Samoskevich manages to score.

A pivotal moment in their performance came in the third period when Florida netted two goals just 11 seconds apart, leading the Hurricanes to swap out Martin for Yaniv Perets.

Ekblad ended his goal drought with his first score in 1,045 regular-season shifts since February 2020.

Looking ahead, Carolina is set to start a two-game homestand against Seattle on Tuesday, while Florida heads to Pittsburgh for a two-game away series beginning the same day.
