Duchene and Oettinger Lead Stars to 4-1 Victory Over Oilers in First Rematch of the Season

Matt Duchene scored twice, leading the Dallas Stars to a 4-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers in their first encounter since last season's Western Conference Final.

Jake Oettinger, who just signed an eight-year contract extension, made his debut start by stopping 30 shots and maintaining a shutout until the final moments of the game.

Roope Hintz added a goal and an assist, and Jason Robertson scored with an empty net. The Stars improved their home record to 4-0, despite facing just 11 shots over the initial two periods.

Stuart Skinner of the Oilers struggled to maintain his form following a strong showing in the previous season's Western Conference Final. Duchene's power-play goal helped Dallas break a season-long 1-of-17 streak.

Oettinger's impressive save against Zach Hyman early in the third period sparked a series of events that ensured Dallas's victory.

The Stars are set to travel to Buffalo for a two-game road trip, while the Oilers will welcome Carolina for a two-game stretch at home.
