The Toronto Maple Leafs capitalized on balanced scoring and a 30-save performance from goaltender Anthony Stolarz to defeat the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 on Saturday at Rogers Place.

Jack Roslovic opened the scoring unassisted at 14:16 of the first period. Toronto expanded the margin early in the second period with two quick strikes. Auston Matthews beat Tristan Jarry with a wrist shot at 5:29 off feeds from Easton Cowan and Roslovic. Just 54 seconds later, Troy Stecher snapped a shot home following passes from Kirill Marchenko and Morgan Rielly to make it 3-0. Edmonton answered late in the second period when Leon Draisaitl scored on a wrist shot at 19:04, assisted by Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard.

William Nylander restored Toronto's three-goal cushion at 5:59 of the third period with a power-play slap shot set up by Darren Raddysh and Marchenko. Zack MacEwen increased the lead to 5-1 at 13:39 with a batted puck off an assist from Brandon Duhaime for his first goal of the season. Draisaitl countered on the power play at 16:35 with his second goal of the night, again assisted by McDavid and Bouchard. Nylander then scored his second of the game into an empty net at 17:56, and Vinni Lettieri capped the scoring with his first goal of the season at 19:29 on a wrist shot set up by Gavin McKenna.

Stolarz anchored Toronto in net by stopping 30 of the 32 shots he faced, while Jarry made 25 saves on 30 shots for Edmonton before the empty-net goal. Toronto scored on its lone power-play opportunity of the night, while Edmonton finished 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

The victory pushed the Maple Leafs to a 7-4-2 record and extended their winning streak to four games. Edmonton dropped to 8-2-1 following the defeat.

Both teams return to the ice on Monday, October 26. The Maple Leafs continue their schedule when they visit the Calgary Flames, while the Oilers host the Detroit Red Wings.
