New York Rangers News & Updates

With only 24 seconds left in the game, Kaapo Kakko scored a power-play goal that secured a 4-3 win for the New York Rangers against the Montreal Canadiens, ending the Rangers' five-game losing streak.

The Rangers, who hadn't seen victory since November 19, also had goals from Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, and Mika Zibanejad. Adam Fox provided two assists, and Jonathan Quick made 25 saves during the game.

After trailing 3-1 at the end of two periods, the Canadiens staged a comeback with third-period goals by Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. Kakko's decisive goal happened while Kirby Dach was penalized for high-sticking.

The Rangers brought forwards Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil back from injury, deciding to scratch Reilly Smith and Jonny Brodzinski.

An early-game fight between Jacob Trouba and Josh Anderson seemed to energize the Rangers.

The Rangers now stand at 11-1-0 in games where they score first and have achieved their 1,700th home victory.

The Canadiens will visit the Boston Bruins on Sunday, while the Rangers will play against the New Jersey Devils at home on Monday.
